Award season is in full swing and the Oscars have been highly anticipated this year. Although the movies are front and center during the show, the fashion didn’t disappoint.
The 89th Academy Awards aired live on Sunday night (Feb. 26) from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California. This year was a big year for movies so the awards had been creating quite a buzz leading up the show. Jimmy Kimmel hosted the star-studded event that celebrated good films.
Hollywood’s hottest celebs walked the red carpet before the event and some of them took my breath away. There was a lot of old Hollywood glam, red dresses and classic black tuxedos but not everyone could make the best dressed list. These were my favorite looks from the 2017 show.
Best Dressed at the 2017 Academy Awards
Emma Roberts channeled Hollywood glamour before the Oscars and, while she looked amazing, she also did it for a great cause. She donned vintage Armani Prive for Suzy Amiz Cameron’s “Red Carpet Green Dress Challenge,” to bring awareness to sustainable living. See… you can look great while being eco-friendly.
Riz Ahmed brought a little pop of color to the red carpet. He looked dapper in a royal blue suit by Zegna and classic black shoes.
Karlie Kloss’ blonde locks shimmered next to her white Stella McCartney gown. She made the cape trend look classic with one simple shoulder and the Nirav Modi jewels on her neck were the perfect accent.
Kirsten Dunst walked the red carpet in a strapless black Dior dress with a hi-low cut. Her red lips and smoky eyes did the talking alongside the stunning gown. On her neck she wore a unique, thin necklace.
Taraji P. Henson
There aren’t enough words to describe how stunning Taraji P. Henson looked on the red carpet. Her velvet gown was perfectly fit for her body and the off-the-shoulder neckline with the leg slit made it oh so sexy. The blue velvet made it a standout look of the night.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend were once again #couplegoals at this year’s Oscars. Chrissy donned a Zuhair Murad dress that she described as “tight.” The embellished top made the look elegant and John was her perfect accessory.
Ruth Negga was ravishing in red this year. Her unique gown had a Victorian neck with capped sleeves and she looked statuesque in it. To make it even better, she wore the ACLU ribbon to support civil liberties.
Ryan Gosling was dreamy in his standout Gucci look. His dramatic shirt was the perfect addition to his look. He stood out without doing too much.
Viola Davis looks a red dress and she manages to look more stunning in each one. This cherry red dress hugged her curves in all the right places and the train was a beautiful feminine addition. I give her Armani Prive look a 10.
Emma Stone’s feminine look was a throwback to flapper days. The gold Givenchy dress fit her perfectly and her Hollywood glam hair was the perfect finishing touch.
