Princess Diana will always be known for her humanitarian ways, but it was her fashion sense that first got her noticed by the public.

It’s now been 20 years since Diana’s tragic death but we’re still in awe of her feminine fashion today. At the time, some of her styles were considered racy but that didn’t stop her. She kept her fashion classy (she even frequently carried a clutch for the sole purpose of hiding her cleavage when entering and exiting vehicles) and became a style icon.

Princess Diana’s style shaped the 80s and 90s but there are plenty of ways to channel her sense of style today.

1. The Boho Chic Look

Diana may be several months pregnant in this picture but she’s not giving up her fashion sense. She attended a banquet and donned this white evening gown that screamed boho chic. This is an easy style to mimic in a more casual way for everyday wear.

This gorgeous red cocktail dress is one of my favorite Princess Diana looks. She was ravishing in red and the style fit her like a glove. Here she was attending a charity dinner in Argentia. You’ll get everyone in the room talking by wearing your own red cocktail dress like this one from Lulus.

Princess Diana could wear a little black dress better than anyone else. Here, she’s wearing an LBD at the ballet in London. The gold straps on the dress may be hard to find today but pair your favorite little black dress with gold accent jewelry and you’re on your way to channeling your inner princess.

This sheep sweater may not be my favorite sweater but it was Diana’s. Wearing a statement sweater like this one will definitely get you noticed and there are a ton of styles similar to the one Diana donned. This Madewell one is the most similar to Princess Di’s but it has a high price tag at $108. Kristina, the blogger at Daydream Delightful, really does the sheep look best. She makes it look extra feminine and still keeps it fun.

5. Military Jacket

The feminine military look is going to be hot this fall and so are the military colors. There are many great military jackets currently on eBay and the prices are pretty good. Wendy’s Lookbook also had a unique one — complete with feathers! This will not be a hard trend to find this season once fall jackets are in every store.
