Day One Hanoi Vlog

My first day in Hanoi, Vietnam was a busy one! I was jet-lagged but determined to make the most of my first 24 hours.

For most of the day, we traveled on my dad’s motorbike. If you’ve never been to Asia, you’ve never seen motorbike traffic like this. Most residents own a bike and use it to zig-zag through traffic. Although it seems like they don’t actually follow any rules (aside from honking for basically everything), it all works.

For lunch, we stopped to get Bun Cha (noodle soup with pork) at Bún Chả Hương Liên. That’s the same place where Anthony Bourdain and Former President Barack Obama ate at back in 2016. That was my first and (surprisingly) only taste of Bun Cha. Hey, there’s a lot to eat in Hanoi!

For dinner, we stopped in the Old Quarter (again) for food and things escalated from there. Let’s just say after an anxiety-inducing walk-through Beer Street, we ended up taking shots with two very random new friends.

sounds like a lot of fun; the timing of this is perfect, since we are planning to visit Vietnam in a couple of months. We are still trying to decide if it is worth trying to visit Hanoi, Ho Chi Min, and Halong Bay if we are there for 5-6 days. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. We also plan to visit Bangkok and Angkor Wat for two long weekends.

I love Ho Chi Minh! I also throughly enjoyed my day trip to Halong Bay. I have a video of my boat trip on YouTube!

I actually lived in Bangkok for two years so happy to give any recommendations!
